Elysium Dream a shrewd 2,500gns purchase from the Tattersalls December Foal Sale, returned to the winner’s enclosure following a decisive win in the Marthathonbet Sportsbook/EBF Fillies’ Handicap at Brighton on Wednesday.

The 3-year-old filly, who is trained by Richard Hannon, tracked leaders under jockey Tom Marquand until drawing clear in the last furlong and staying on easily to win by 2-and-a-half lengths.  Assistant trainer Tom Ward commented “The drop in grade helped and she seemed to handle the track. It would be nice if we could find a little bit of black type in the end.”

The daughter of Champs Elysees, is owned by The Racing Cricketers, which consist of England Cricketers Stuart Broad, James Anderson and Eoin Morgan.  The trio enjoyed success at Newmarket last year when Elysium Dream was first past the post in the valuable £150,000 Tattersalls October Auction Stakes and the filly also provided them with a memorable day at Royal Ascot, where she finished 5th in the Chesham Stakes.

When asked about the filly, trainer Richard Hannon commented;
‘She’s been a dream boat, she’s been able to run at all the nice meetings, she’s been to Newmarket’s July meeting, Royal Ascot, she won the major sales races at Newmarket, we have had a fabulous time out of her.’

‘I do think that fillies represent more value now that colts and what’s more they have a better residual value.  You can buy them a little easier, the fillies only races are there and the colts are obviously more expensive.  We stumbled across this filly because she was cheap and cheerful.  Myself and Ross Doyle happened to own her at the time so the cricketers came along and robbed us!’
